About

The name is the job description

Assayer Network is a financial news group for listed companies. Three mastheads covering the announcements that move markets, whether they're lodged on the ASX, the TSX or beyond.

The name is the job description. The assayer was the goldfields' independent expert, paid for their professional opinion of what a sample actually contained and trusted by seller and buyer alike because that opinion couldn't be bought. Their certificate is what turned rock into money.

We do the same work on company announcements. We don't cover everything that gets lodged; we cover the announcements that carry real news, and we say what's in it: what matters, what's routine, and how it sits against everything the company has said before. Good news or hard news, we make the call and put our name on it. Investors get judgement they can rely on, and companies get something rarer than promotion, which is coverage that's believed. Readers trust the judgement because no company can bend it.

So companies can pay us for coverage, but the final call on every word is ours. That's not the fine print, it's the certificate. What we write, we stand behind, which is exactly why it's worth having written. The assayer judged the ore, not the investment. They never owned the mine and never sold the shares. Neither do we. That independence is the service.
